"I guess I'm confused by these movies. None of them are even featuring the artists, they just feature women who look nothing like Etta James, and her love affair with Leonard Chess. "

then it would be called a documentary not a movie. this way they target a wider audience then just those interested in the music.

I disagree, if the movie is supposed to be about CHESS RECORDS then it should be about that. Bill the movie about Leonard then. Muddy, Walter, Bo, etc, all had incredible lives that would make a good movie. Plus, what's the deal with the Etta James actresses? I think they should attempt to find someone who looks SOMEWHAT similar.

ya that looks nothing like her. but they did call the movie "who do you love". so i could be taken as a love story. cadilac records had a proper title cause it was mainly about the musicians. i see what your saying but they have to put the affairs in there to create drama for the movie. its all part of a story. thats like making a movie about bill clinton an not mentioning monica lewinski. that would just be retarded.

Except that was a MAJOR part of his presidency, lol. But to make something more than it was is stupid.

at this point I don't care WHAT they focus on. As long as there is some hollywood suits that have an interest in this type of thing now. "Cadillac Records" and now this so quickly after -- it is great. Maybe in a few years we'll see a Muddy or Little Walter biography. If they bring back Jeffrey Wright as Muddy... if only...

The reality of course is that sex sells. So they have focused on the Etta James thing to attempt to reach a wider audience. That is just the nature of the industry.

Like Oda I'm just happy that this stuff is being made. It's a step in the right direction and hopefully some people might just buy the soundtrack CD (if there is one) and then discover more blues music from that starting point.

I'm looking forward to seeing this movie even if it is just a "Hollywood Story".

Oda, I don't see how that is THAT bad. At least he has similarities, I can understand why they chose him. This is like having Brad Pitt play Alan Wilson in a movie.

Remember, this is a movie and there is the disclaimer that says "based on a true story," and that means not everything is gonna be factual and the so called romance between Leonard Chess and Etta James is flat out pure BS for a better story line.

Put it this way, if you wanted something truly factual, get Ken Burns to do it and it would only be shown on PBS and not as a commercial venture for movie theaters and anyone who expects the movie to be 100% factual is lying to themselves.
