Anyone know what the cover charge is? I'd like to swing by but I'll be bringing company, and that company needs convincing.

Also, if the set starts at 9pm, what time should I be there? Some clubs you gotta arrive at 7.30 is you intend on making it through the door. Others (like in my hometown in South Africa) 9pm start time means if you get there at 10pm you might be lucky enough to help the musicians unload their gear from the van.

depends how crowded it gets, and whether you want to get seats
The acts tend to start just after 9pm

it's a great line-up tonight

Thanks folks. Charlotte St Blues wasn't answering its phone last night. Arrived at 9pm, the band started at 9:30ish. Earl Green on vocals, Lee Sankey playing some buh-listering harp, and Pete whatsit on guitar.

It was £10 at the door instead of £7. The woman working the door said it was because there was a "special surprise" tonight. "What's the surprise," I asked: "You jacked the cover price by three quid?"

Ha. I crack me up.

Interview with Lee Sankey to hit www.harpsurgery.com at the end of Feb.
