The reason I use cotton balls for small items is the wood fibers are a very fine abrasive, unlike terrycloth. You might get a the mirror gloss just by trying the cotton balls and rubbing compound. make sure you rub it until you feel the compound breaking down under your fingers..the cotton balls make this easy to feel too, since they will have a tendency not to slide over the finish as much once the compound begins to break down. As it breaks down, you will see the shine increase as you continue in tiny circles. It's a feel for sure, but I would try the compound again this way before re-shooting . If it doesn't give you the shin you want, try some 1000 grit wet-sanding. I would sand it in the sink with the case under water the whole time to keep it soaked.

It looks good already, but i know you may want to try for the looking at your hair shine.

do you wet the cotton balls when you do it? cause the instructions on the compound said to use a damp cloth so i wet the cloth when i did it. or do you do it dry?
