I bought this old MB on ebay for cheap. I cleaned It up but it doesn't play well, the reeds seem very stiff and it is very hard to bend and worst of all it tastes like my grandfather smells. Any suggestions what to do with it. Right now it lives on my bookcase for show. What would you do with it?

Stick - funny I picked up an EV-664 that smells like....an old warehouse ....Iput it up in a closet in the bedroom and when I came home from work - the whole bedroom smelled. I cleaned it up..but it is still bad. ---------- Music is your own experience, your own thoughts, your wisdom. If you don't live it, it won't come out of your horn. What key is it in?
I would say clean it, replace the comb, add screws, and tweak the reeds.
I like to soak the covers/plates in denture cleaner (will also eliminate smell) and then do the Jason Ricci Mongoose-free method. You can get a new clean comb from Buddha ($10) and find the right screws and bolts at Ace hardware (cost me less than $2).
I also would consider polishing the cover plates.
Or give it to me and I'll do the work, lol. ---------- Mike Fugazzi http://www.myspace.com/niterailband http://www.youtube.com/user/NiteRail http://www.twitter.com/NiteRail http://www.facebook.com/mike.fugazzi

You should be proud of your grandfather, he must be getting blown daily if he smells like a harmonica.
As for the harp, leave it on your shelf as reminder of how good life will be when you're a grandfather. ---------- "Keep it in your mouth" - XHarp

Get a new comb and cover plates. oh, and replace the reedplates. if you then use screws instead of the nails to rebuild it, it'll be as good as new :^)

@Ninja Its an A. @lumpy new comb, reeds and cover plates would make this thing bad@ss maybe I'll see Buddha about that. Looks like I bought an old worn out harp, I'll put it on the shelf and when my brother-in-law asks to play one i'll say "here is a vintage harp in the key of "A" rock on bro" ---------- The Art Teacher Formally Known As scstrickland
