I play Suzuki Bluesmasters. I want to get replacement reedplates for them but only reedplates for the Promaster are available. I assume the Promaster reedplates will fit in my Bluesmasters, but my question is:
Do Promaster reedplates sound the same as Bluesmasters?
Also is there a difference between the Bluesmaster and Promaster in the tuning or response of the reeds?
Thanks for any help!

Hey Jaybird, why do you need them? It costs money!!
I play suzuki harps and they last forever if you dont blow too hard; if you've got one sticking then take the covers off and increase the gaps gently; clean well and hey back to normal..good luck

Lumpy: I am in the USA. I can get a complete Bluesmaster (from Rockin Ron) for about the price harmonicas-direct gets just for the reedplates.
My question however, is regarding the sound and playability differences between the Bluesmaster and Promaster reedplates.
Anybody know?

I don't know but I heard Rockin'Ron sells Delta Frost replacement plates which are very close if not exact replacements for Suzuki Bluesmaster.
Phosphor Bronze....exact fit.

The Delta Frost plates are exact fit replacements and to my mind sound identical too.
I have fit ProMaster plates to both BluesMasters and Delta Frosts. There is a very slight difference in the width but this is not a problem. I can't tell any difference in the sound at all. Some on here swear there is but my hearing is not acute enough to detect it if there is.
The last set of ProMaster plates that I put into a Delta Frost have been brilliant. They are still going strong after approx eight months of playing. I use it every day for at least two hours per day. They are the longest lasting plates I have had so far and I have had zero playability problems. If anything they are more playable than the original Delta Frost/BluesMaster plates.

I didn't try the promaster reed plates but I have used the Delta Frost reed plates for all of the Suzuki harps of that type including the MR 200. They always work great and screw holes are identical. great harps

My Bluesmaster in A had a reed go out. I took a plate from a valved Promaster, removed the valve flaps, put it in the Bluesmaster. I was happy with the results.

You can swap around most Suzuki diatonic harmonica parts easily with each other. So yes, Promaster plates will fit in your Bluesmaster comb. All the screw holes line up. The only difference is that there will be a tiny half mm gap at the front of the reedplates, but that is masked by the coverplate.
As is common knowledge, the Delta Frost is made of all Suzuki parts, so they will swap perfectly. The Bluesmaster has phosphor bronze reeds, the Harpmaster has brass reeds. Essentially the DF is a Bluesmaster with Harpmaster-style coverplates. The brass reeds are slightly lighter feeling and more flexible, whereas the PB reeds are a bit stiffer to play and longer lasting.

@lumpy What is "fairy snuff"? I never heard of this. Is it something I should chew, or snort, or possibly smoke? Maybe it's some kind of derogatory remark. Please explain. ---------- www.Youtube.com/Jaybird33066
