For awhile the harmonica space folks were playing some jams on skype...are these things still going on?

I did one of those jams--to me, a "jam" is where a bunch of musicians get together and play music--kind of all at the same time. The Skype concept of jam is more what I call a "Circle Jerk," because only one player can play at a time or it just gets jumbled.

It's still a fun way to get together though--and I would be interested in doing this, if others want to.

I think somebody needs to moderate it--tell others when to mute their mics and who is going to play next.

Distance can be a factor-- Zhin played at one point from Malaysia--and it was just unintelligible, although I know that Zhin is a good player--the transfer speed just didn't let it flow right.

My Skype name is 'oldwailer.' for some reason, they needed to know my real name too--which is 'Ray Farnworth.'

'circle jerk' lol. It's a good description... ;)

EDIT: It's not only about jamming though. It's also about talking harp...

There is a site called Indaba that is set up to let musicians collaborate. I don't think it's live, and you don't get full access without paying, but it might be a good way for people to do some collaborating.

By the way, OT but what's up with HarmonicaSpace? It's kinda tumbleweedville there.

"It's kinda tumbleweedville there." Yeah, unfortunately. I liked the place.

My theory - many of the big name players were hanging out there. Then some of them left, and alot of other people too.

I don't know what happened on Harmonicaspace--it was going great (I thought) and then it just died off. All the real action has remained here. . .
