i follow the joe spiers method of cleaning my harps,as demonstrated by jason ricci.
there are stains i just can'r get rid of,no matter how long i scrub away.
does everyone else have the same problem,or do you all scrub up like new.
i should add,its the same with all my harps.

Barkeeper's Friend, applied with a soft toothbrush and a little water to moisten will clean them beautifully.

Manky-According to the internet, you can get it in the UK, but the packaging is different. The key ingredient should be the same:oxalic acid

thanks toddle,i've just ordered some from amazon uk.
£4.08.free postage,can't be bad.
i spent ages finding the kaboom which gets off most of it,but not the stains, which are on the reeds too,and seem to have lost the sparkle sound they had.
i'll let you know how i get on.

good luck, mankster! I got the idea from a friend who learned it thru Joe also. It's very mildly abrasive, and the ingredient exists in a lot of food we eat. It will make them shinier than new! I had some old plates that were just nasty and black, and the BK does the trick.

i had a severe chest infection some years ago which almost killed me off.it left a lot of phlegm on my chest.i was starting to think that, maybe that had something to do with it.
i'm just hoping the BF does the trick.
god only knows what my chromatics look like under the
bonnet(hood)i've never had the covers off.

sorin, I do. just use common sense so you don't bend or break anything. you don't really have to use any pressure at all.

If I open a harp and it's repulsive with green nasty stuff, it's going to get the BKF treatment, reeds and all.
