Ok I know this has nothing to do with blues or harp but these guys are FUCKING GREAT and EVERYBODY needs to hear about them. Some of you may be familiar all ready, but the band I am to mention is Medeski Martin and Wood. I am utterly obsessed, OBSESSED with these guys. It is my opinion that John Medeski (keys) is either Jesus Christ, the Holy Ghost, or he sold his soul to Satan. He IS the cutting edge of keys, I challenge anyone to find a more progressive player. Chris Wood (Bass) is what I found for the definition of "groove" on dictionary.com. And Billy Martin, well he is hands down the most tasteful drummer I have ever come across. He is the ONLY drummer I have ever heard take a solo that made sense and that I actually liked.

LOVE MMW! They were here in portland recently! Yes, their drummer is very tasty. Speaking of tasty, can't leave out Joey Defrancesco!
Wanna learn phrasing you copy Joey.

More Philly Masters. The legendary Pat Martino.
He had brain tumor and had it operated on and woke up
didn't know his parents didn't know his name didn't know
he played guitar. I he may not have known how to play.

Diggs,

Joey lives in Scottsdale now. I recently was invited to a pro jazz jam led by Joey's dad at a place called Bobby C's

Wow, didn't know that. He and his dad played around Philly for decades. He's probably trying to find a good
Italian Restaurant.LOL I think he did some stuff with Jimmy
Bruno. You can take the man out of Philly but can you
take the Philly out of the man. I bet they play a lot of
standards at that jam.

I don't know WHAT it is about Joey and his bands but they just have an incredible combination of perfect phrasing, and timing/groove and seemingly limitless technical abilities. Can listen to that all day.
