I don't know. My guess it is someone on the forum showing off their forum skills, but you're right, it is a little worrisome.

Jon- There is a difference though, between spam and a hijack. You're right though, it's like when someone says, 'Hey, I just got a shock from that speaker,' and everyone runs over to see if they can reproduce it.

It seems to be fixed now, thanks. I was wanting to search for posts by entering a username, but not getting any results from the search on the left. I mistakenly thought I had read in the past that someone had come up with a different search method.

harpwrench, now that you ask of it, there is a somehow superior search (although I don't think that it was ever mentioned on the forum). Type the following into your usual google search box and replace germanharpist with whatever you're looking for:

GH- I checked in IE and Firefox. The autoplay thing just seems to be a Chrome issue. I'll check to see if it's a known Chrome issue. Maybe I just have a default set differently in Chrome.
Harpwrench- It's basically just a Google search. You can add search parameters. The more info you give it the more specific the results. I don't know if it's just searching the text in the posts or if it's searching the whole page. If it's searching the whole page then it should register people's names. Any time someone's name is in their signature it should show up either way.

The problem is not only in Google Chrome but also in Opera...
Autostart=false <== it plays
Autostart=true <== it doesn't play
The solution is easy.
Next to autostart=false or autostart=true you have to add: type="audio/mpeg" <== It has to recognize the audio file

MAL- Not me. It was in the "OT: Practice Your Forum Skills". GH posted it as a tutorial, but every time I went to the thread it started autoplaying. I was tracking down why it was autoplaying on me and not other people. I couldn't practice posting it in the other thread because GH's post was already autoplaying! It turns out it's an issue with Chrome and Safari. Adding another little snippet of HTML to the post fixes it.
GH- I don't know how to edit the How-To, and I don't know how to post the html in a post without activating it, but if you click edit on my post above with the embedded player you can see it.
