Has anyone tried a Dannecker Blues harp or one of his customised harps? They all seem to have Meisterklasse reed plates fitted, but I'm not sure what other adjustments are made.

I have a Dannecker Blues in the key of A. It has a very bright sound, I assume because of the brass comb. I really like the rounded teeth. While not owning a custom, I would guess his adjustments to be somewhere between an Meisterclasse and a custom. I don't know if the tuning is adjusted but it's the easiest playing harp I own. It's also the heaviest. With a bullet mic it's a handful. I Don't know how accurate my scale is but it compares in weight as follows:

Marine Band: 0.130 lbs
Meisterclasse: 0.215 lbs
Dannecker Blues 0.355 lbs

So Rich, if they are that much heavier what effect does that have on the tone, or how long you can play before your arm gets tired? (I've heard some of the heavy chromatics can actually get pretty heavy.) That would really add up carrying a complete set of harps around.

I've had one of his Marine Band Deluxe for 3 months now. I am still a
beginner with no customs in my case yet. I have all the keys in out of the
box MB and Sp 20 to compare with so I can only say that the Dan is on a
par with the best playing harps that I own, although if it is better than the
best stockers, I can't tell yet.

It swells after about an hour of playing due to Hohners lets just pretend
style of sealing. Shouldn't a harp that absorbs moisture and swells also
leak air? This one doesn't.

If I am remembering this right, it only took a week + or - for the harp
to get from UK to this remote corner of northern minnesota. Hows
about you brits, how do you rate Danneckers stuff?

I have never dealt with Anthony personally. I know he used to do all Larry Adlers harmonicas. To do the harmonicas of arguably the most famous harmonica player in the world he must be good I guess.

A couple of years ago, I was trying to fill out a set of old style Meisterklasse I had but couldn't find an Ab. I was able to get my hands on an extra A, though. Sent it to Mr. Danneker and he re-tuned it to Ab. Perfect!

Nice guy, very responsive, fast turn around, quality workmanship.

.355 lbs? As an added bonus, this harp can double as a weapon!

The weight doesn't seem to affect tone. I took it apart when I got it to clean it (my dad got it used off ebay for $75 but didn't like the weight and gave it to me) and when I ran my fingernail along the teeth it actually made a ringing sound.

I don't like to carry it in my pocket because of the weight, especially a shirt pocket. If I had a complete set and never played anything else I'd probably get used to them.
