Harpwrench ,..Not any shorted winding on this baby ! ,..What he has is one of the fist mid Z's,. This is what Guru David Kott says: In 1952, the medium impedance model 99E86 was introduced, which was a 300 ohm element.
NOD,. has one of the first made,. 2 = 1952 -- 14 = April Again,..Nice find ! --------- Simply Unique Kustom Mic's By Rharley

Yep/ Medium impedance. That one is a medium impedance CR - I've never seen one of those before. It should be a GREAT element - the problem is finding the right transformer for it. A typical IMT made for low-to-high applications tends to boost these elements TOO much.

Hi Bro's i knew my comment below from another thread would stir some intrest.
i have a Low-z 300 ohms Shure Black Label controlled reluctance element its great for home use louder than one would think, i got no plans of fitting a transformer,
I remember way back Chuck Guney mentioned he had a 300ohms Black label in one of his ebay auctions, when he sold under the moniker of MR SAX,
this one as i say is staying as is i got me a stable of 4 Hi-z Black Backs to keep me Happy
this Little Beuty is a great home microphone, low-z CM are great for the bedroom blasters with small 5-watt tube amps..
another Great ebay buy US-$52 Bucks it's a keeper

I don't believe NOD wants to put a trans in it,.
He sure has a piece of history there being it's a 1952 - April,. An for all anyone knows if Shure introduced them April 1952 he may well have the first one !! ---------- Simply Unique Kustom Mic's By Rharley

Yo Bro Sparra the seller was asked to open the mic and let the punters have a look,
he was unwilling to open it up i took a punt and won
when it landed i opened it up strait away and pissed my my pants laughing, rushed inside checked www.greenbulletmics.com
i emailed him thanking him for not opening the mic and informing him how rare it was, and next time punters ask to open a mic i suggest he do it the basterd abused me..
