I've got (gapped) 1923s in E and F#. They are OK, but probably a false economy over Marine Bands, as they are a bit recalcitrant for my liking. Perhaps I should get a lower key too, as that's likely to be more giving. ---------- Kinda hot in these rhinos!
A dealer gave me a Hering Free Blues when Hering was coming back. I liked the free part, wasn't particularly impressed with it, wasn't a bad car harp. I did buy a complete set of Hering Black Blues from him, liked those fine. This was maybe 10 years ago, I still have a couple, most went flat after a while.
@Wheezer. A short while ago you gave out some info regarding a small transformer to wire into a mic for pushing it up to high impedance from low. I have a 600 ohm dynamic that I want to make Hi-Z, could you give out the details again please. Much obliged and thanks. Couldn't find the original post.
I have two types of impedance transformers but none that fit inside the mic.
One is XLR to 1/4" jack switchable High/Low. This one came from Maplin (order no.BV529) £7.99
The other came from Semi-Conductors and is a Skytronic component part no.173.082. This one is 1/4" female to 1/4" male and cost about £6.00.
In both cases plug the mic. lead into the transformer and then the transformer into the amp, they work fine. part no.YU33L £14.99
If you want one that fits inside Maplin do a cheap mic that has switchable impedance and you could probably fit that transformer into your own mic.
