WOW!
That was so cool!
I now want to learn that song. Of all the videos posted, this depicts what closest resembles the tone I'm after. That breathy vibrato is like Paul Desmond. So cool!

Allycat,
Thats who I was thinking about. Colman Hawkins, not Paul Desmond. Thanks

That blew my mind.

Geez, this is almost becoming a daily event for me here...

In reference to "Jack the man", the harp is much more than just another dimension to that song. The harp is the backbone of that song. As opposed to "Get Ready" where it's front and center and very soulful, but many other instruments could pull that off there, too.

Anyway, that's what I feel.

I feel the same. And I love the way he plays that special vibrato (at 0:5 and further), smoothly like a big cat that purrs...

I find the vocals outstanding, too.

I've never heard this guy before but I second that his tone is like Coleman Hawkins breathy sound. Great stuff.

Very Cool. Anyone know what "low harp" key he's playing?

He starts out doing the background comping on a low D but I think some of the solo stuff is on a regular D. I found it odd....I've had this video in my Favs for a while. Thursday, I got a new low D Special 20. I had it in my hand when I went to this forum and played this again.
