You guys are great (by the way), and I would like to ask you some questions.

I play amplified in my car (520D+vjr) and I have a feedback problem, I'm not sure at all my car makes it worse but anyway, the thing is I can barely turn the volume knob before I start getting feedback so I can't get the breakup I would like to have.

My question is this, what would be better? a lonewolf break pedal or an anti-feedback pedal?

inb4 "better cupping", "playing in the car is dangerous", etc.

Thank you guys
Kingley

I recommend changing the preamp valve for a 12AY7.
Also if you have the amp speaker facing you it's going to feedback earlier than if not.

Of course these things need to be combined with proper cupping technique and good acoustic tone to get the best from the rig.

Powerglue the amp to your roof. Problem solved.

Bro your Mic is Hi-z it's unsuitable for your amp it is feedding back about 1 or 1/2 possibly,
can't get it 2 befor feedback occures

your mic is a dual impedence HI or Low-z
it's wired for HI-z,

you could get around the Problem
i think by buying an inline impedence booster

this can be used both ways i think by switching it in reverse to lower the mice impedence

even then you may still find it to strong maybe only able to push it to say 5 on the Dial

im sure there are some Bro's on here with these
impendece boosters in fact i know there are
they can help you out with info on them

the tube swaps will allso help

GermanHarpist: "inb4" is internet lingo like "lol", it means "I know you're gonna say X", or "don't tell me I need X and Y cause I already know".

it's specific to forums...

Your mic is feeding back because a car is about the worst acoustic space imaginable - as bluzedude said there are too many smooth, hard reflective surfaces with very little distance between them. Soundwaves bouncing back and forward all over. When a reflected wave hits an incoming one (in phase) the amplitude is magnified which creates a resonant frequency. The mic picks it up, it gets amplified again and all of a sudden your ears explode.

The impedance of your mic is not a bad match for a guitar amp. A HiZ mic wants to 'see' a HiZ input on the amp and that is what a guitar amp has. Well matched impedance results in optimal transfer between the mic and amp. If you plug a loZ mic into a hiZ input it will not feedback, but you will lose tone, particularly gritty drive and frequencies at the bottom end (and that is kind of the point of using a cupped bullet mic). Impedance is not the issue here. It's acoustics.

Play your valve junior at home and buy one of those Danelectro Honeytone miniamps for the car.

MrVeryLong

You seem to know this stuff...

What about a master volume mod like Isaacullah, would that help? it seems to keep the gain up but the volume down.. you think that would help in my case? cause I'll try it!

It might do, i can imagine it'd be a useful mod for other situations. I'm still not convinced an amp that size in that environment is a good idea. Cooling the mic as NOD suggested will mean less feedback, but to the detriment of tone. Then again using a small SS amp as I suggested is gonna change things too. Everything is going to be a compromise. I just play acoustic in the car!
