I apologize for this basic question but according to this chart:

I should not be able to bend 5 draw but I'm pretty sure I can, so what's the deal? I guess Fb doesn't exist or some other stuff (I hear you laughing already), I don't care too much really but just tell me if some of you make use of 5-6-7 draw bend sometimes or should I just refrain from using it.
I feel ridiculous already so go ahead and make your worst.
I'll have a nice day anyway cause it's friday!

What a rediculous question... I'm embarrassed even answering it... ;)
Ok ;) now seriously: of course you can bend the 5 draw. However, not a half step. Because half a step below F is E... Fb does exist but it's (the same note as) E. And equally E# and F are the same.
I bend the 5 draw a lot in blues. The only note you should avoid after 5 bend is 5 blow. However, 4 draw or 4 draw bend always sound good. I even think 5 draw bend is a blue note like the 3 hole bend half a step.
6 Hole bend is not too much in use for blues in 2nd position. However blues or minor stuff in 3rd position make a lot of use of the 6 draw bend.
7 draw bend however, doesn't exist. There's only a blow bend. However, just like with the 5 hole there is just half a note between C and B and thus you can't bend it very far (less than half a step). And because the bend won't give you another note they don't show it in the graphs...
Hope that helped. Happy friday! ;) ---------- germanharpist on YT. =;-) - Resonance is KEY!

For expression, you can get some useful bend on the 5 draw. The 7 draw is very very minute before it pops to an underdraw...for me at least. Not very useful at my ability level.
I have a different opinion on the 6 draw bend for blues. I use it when walking up to the 6 draw bend quite a bit...kind of sliding into the 6 draw. I also wail in the 6 draw sometimes using the bend to make it wail.

You can bend the 7 draw just as you can bend 1-6 blow... i.e. barely. Jfllr1, if you're talking about bending 7 blow,... it all depends on the context. And as it actually bends up to a note from the blues scale in 2nd position, I would think that you could make it sound good. ---------- germanharpist on YT. =;-) - Resonance is KEY!

If you bend 5 draw, you can only bend it 1/4 step, NOT 1/2 step as in hole 6, and if you hit that bend too hard all the time (AKA going right to the floor of the bend), that note will quickly get blown out. 7 draw, you can't do even 1/4 step, only 1/8th step max because in that hole, the draw note is the lowest note in that hole and you can't go past that (unless you're using a partially valved diatonic).
That chart is very accurate chart of the available bends, but doesn't show overblows. ---------- Sincerely, Barbeque Bob Maglinte Boston, MA http://www.barbequebob.com CD available at http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/bbmaglinte
