I’m assembling a harmonica from parts and i’m thinking about coverplates. From one hand I really like traditional stamp on MB Classic coverplates. But i think that shape of my MB Deluxe is a bit more arched and there’s less rough edges.

Is it correct? Or, more specifically, what are the differences between MB Deluxe and MB classic coverplates? Which one do you prefer and why?

I haven’t looked for a while but from memory the mouth-side corners of the Deluxe are a little finessed compared to the 1896. Actually, I have a Deluxe right here, although it’s a custom, and I can see the corners are basically seamless. Not sure if they might use some solder to help but looks like they’ve been rounded and smoothed, on a wheel I guess. Thunderbird I have here is very similar and that one is stock.
The 1896 are just folded into place.
Practically, I can’t say I ever notice a difference when I’m playing but the Deluxe/ Crossover/Thunderbird is a nicer aesthetic..
