This item is a mid to late 1930s Hohner Super Chromonica Model 270 Harmonica Key of C with the Original Wood Box in Excellent Condition. This harmonica is remarkably clean for its age; and it shows almost no wear. The top and bottom silver metal alloy plates and the brass support plates are free of rust and corrosion. All 48 reeds appear to be in place and operational. The pear wood is in excellent condition, with no cracks or splits. The slide bar is clean and the spring action is strong. There is some very minor pitting on the upper and lower mouthpiece consistent with its age and nominal use. The centrally located trade mark on the rear plate does not have the Star of David in the center, confirming its manufacture in the mid to late 1930s. The original wood box has tongue and groove mitered corners, which places its manufacture date in the 1930s. The upper gold tone clasp and lower home plate are still in place and work properly. The deep blue interior lining is completely in place; and the paper over wood exterior has no rips or tears. Even the bottom of the box is complete. Made in Germany. This harmonica measures 6 1/8 inches across (including the shift button) by 1 1/2 inches deep by 1 1/8 inches thick.
I would also suggest that due to its age, this piece would make a superlative addition to a collection of vintage musical instruments or Hohner harmonicas specifically, rather than a daily player.
