Possibly an easy question but who knows.

Is there any difference between Marine band and Special 20 reed plates?
I know they're different sizes and the Sp 20 has the notches in the rear but are they tuned the same, same size slots?

Cheers.

Yes, slots reeds and tuning are the same. Crossover and Golden Melody are tuned differently but same reeds.
Rocket and current production sp20 use exact same plates. Rocket tuning may be more like crossover.
When you buy new reed plates for rocket/sp20, or crossover/marine band deluxe, I'm not sure which tuning is supplied.
That is, they sell the same plates for deluxe and crossover but the harps are tuned differently and there is no distinction for the spare plates. I assume same applies to rocket/sp20. It'll be one or the other, I just don't know which it is

Thanks for that SuperBee,
I really like the way my sp20s play and have them with 'tin sandwich' combs, so going by what you've said they will be very similar to Marine Bands 1896?
