Hi,
I've just been working with some of the material on Bluesharmonica.com and thought i'd share some of the things i've recorded.

both these pieces use a G harp. Gary's Blues is 2nd position, The Tub is 1st
ive shared Gary's Blues here before, I've been playing it for years...but i think i have improved a couple of aspects. the end of the first chorus has a little lick on the last couple of beats...an inhale pull on chambers 1 and 2, and a couple of inhale notes on the 1. i could never quite get the hang of it, but today i finally understood. as usual i was making too big a deal of it. it was much simpler than i'd been treating it.

i still need to improve the wailing bends in the 3rd chorus..i release them too suddenly, but i think they sound better with a more gradual release.

overall though i'm fairly happy with Gary's Blues

The Tub far more challenging in several ways. Licks which involve a lot of bending. Check out the 3rd and 5th choruses.
those are lots of fun to play. stuff like this i find inspires me to play. that opening to the 5th chorus..1 blow, 2 blow, 2 draw whole step, half step, 2 draw.. 1 blow, 2 blow, 1 blow, 2 draw half step, 2 draw..
1 blow, 2 blow, 2 draw whole step, half step, 2 draw..(pull the 1 and 2 draw as you move to the) 4 blow, 2 draw, 3 draw whole step, 3 draw half step

i cringe somewhat at my recording...i hear all the things wrong with it.
its quite fast for my technique. played about 10% slower is quite a bit easier. i think i started learning it in mid-august. it is a lot of fun to play though. i really was enjoying playing 1st position in the upper octave and thought i needed to start using it in the lower octave...and i had this very nice G harp, so the Tub seemed to fit the bill nicely. at first i thought i was doing quite well, but then i realised that actually all those bends do need to be pretty close to pitch and it is quite a challenge to get everything sounding good rather than rough enough and had fun trying. still i think its good to stretch from time to time.

Brilliant that's want we want here! Examples of playing and some analysis.

Gary’s Blues:

Chorus 3 sounded especially good. The phrase that comes down from the held 4 draw was really nicely executed.
Timing is pretty spot on, throughout. The flat tire groove can be tough to play to, but you’ve nailed it here.
If there is any constructive criticism on "Gary's Blues": I would like to hear more use of tremolo in your held notes, and slowly fade them. This would be a nice effect to employ in the closing tone of Chorus 1. It will also add to your held notes in Chorus 3.

The Tub:
Very nice playing. Your bends sound pretty good. I can tell that you are having some difficulty with the speed of it, because there's some hesitancy in your playing and you are sometimes slightly off from the rhythm. (This was most obvious to me around 1:35 or so). This will all fall into place as you work with this piece more.

Great job on the octaves! The octave is a huge sound and I think it sounds good 95% of the time. The only time to avoid octaves is when you're building to something and saving them for a later use.

Thanks for the feedback Mirco. Much appreciated. I shall pay some attention to the decay of those held notes. david has said similar to me in the past.
And the timing in the tub, most definitely. Funny thing is, that is my favourite chorus of the song...and I think I was getting into playing it and forgot to keep time...held the note too long and there you are, behind the beat and playing from memory rather than listening and playing with the band...
