I reported on the workshop by Ron Shellist on another post (see Breathing for tone).
Adam gave another workshop on blues scale and one on slow blues. This information was basic but embellished on the nuances of the blue notes and their role in getting great blues sound. He also covered spacing, phrasing and how to work within a typical 12 bar blues structure using vocalization, scooping, etc.
Adam and Ron also had a session on stage lessons. Lots of tips on preparation for playing in front of an audience.
The program ended by having each participant do a 12 bar set with a backing track and critiqued, positively, by Adam and Ron. I was amazed at how much info they could hear about each player after only 12 bars.
Finally, that evening, there were performances by Adam and the Blues Doctors, Ronnie and his Guitar partner, Moses Walker and a solo performance by 20yo Nic Clark who had a very smoothe slow blues groove.
If any of you have a chance to attend one of their workshops, I highly recommend it.
