I said something very similar to that in a thread the other day. Once you get a lil lost or "stale" (as Adam so accurately described it), go back and learn something simple. That's what i do.

The three note exercise is definately something to try. I also like what he said about practising in the morning or at night so that your brain keeps working on things throughout the day or while you're asleep. Most of my practise is at night so this might be why things seem to fall into place sometimes.
