Found, of all things, 3 ms reedplates, new in a yardsale. Bb,A,&G. I have a Big River in F, which I have not had the opportunity to use and wondering if I could swap reedplates using one of the above, turn the F harp into a Bb? Couldn't seem to find an answer elsewhere, so there it is.

Hi Pablo, do you mean you found 3 sets of reedplates? I think the Bb will fit but i cant say for sure. I think the MS harps use 3 different templates for the reedplates but I don’t know if they also use different chamber lengths in the combs. I suspect they don’t but I reckon just try it.

Yep, 3 sets. A Bb,A,& G. Maybe the original question was a newbie's inexperience shining through. who knows, I may have need of a backup F in the future.

That is a great score from a yard sale. All useful common keys.
think big river only has a couple or 3 screws holdin the reedplates. I only have one, which is low d and I haven’t taken apart yet but certainly the ms blues harps for instance have only a couple screws in the reedplates plus the 2 in the covers.
I’m not sure if the spare reedplates are already tapped or if they rely on self-tapping screws. If the latter, no biggie. Helps to use some lubricant on the threads. Some use mineral oil. Ive even used olive oil and works fine.
I just looked on hohner site and see they only offer 1 comb for big river so your Bb plates should fit your F comb no problem at all.

Hey thank you! I truly appreciate your efforts, looking that up. I didn't think about checking the hohner site. I will try the Bb. It may sound kind of stupid, but I want to have the MB in Bb last longer. And it was a great score... $3 dollars! And the red cases they came in are perfect for a Seydel if I want to just have one in the car with me.
