edited by Nacoran. (I set autostart="false". You had autostart="true", which starts things playing automatically, which is annoying when you are listening to something else, sitting being quiet or when two things start autoplaying at the same time!) No worries though. :)
Thanx Nacoran ... I'll check the autostart next time.

I´m trying to understand how you take a picture from your own HD and post it here. No copyright shit there, it´s of my own harmonica pouch -- but I don´t understand the instructions on the FAQ. As usual.
Is there a step by step manual for us retards somewhere?
Martin, you have to post it on the web first- try Photobucket or Flikr. Once you do that, right click the image and copy the photo url (not the url at the top of the page... that's the most common mistake once people have it posted). Then paste that little piece of code into the middle of this:
<img src="http://www.abc.com/anyPicture.jpg">
Replace everything between the quotation marks with the url.
For the Moderators: I have a difficult time deciphering the color security codes when I post a message. I typically need to try 3-4 times. That's OK; my problem. What is truly annoying, though, is how my text is deleted each time I get the error message that I have mucked up the security code (again). I cannot tell you how many long, uber-meaningful posts I have lost because I forgot to save my text before attempting to enter my faulty interpretation of the beloved security Code. Many times I have been so frustrated that I just gave up and scuttled my attempt to post. Am I the only one this happens to? Is it possible for you to fix this text deletion issue? Many Thanks for a thankless job well done, Michelle ----------
Michelle, I also give up on many posts when captcha frustrates. Mainly I post from my phone, which is slow and cumbersome, but where I am. It's a pill to have to copy, delete, paste...usually I'll have a second try but if that fails... Naught will change though. It's a royal decree ----------
Mlefree, we've reported the problem to the hosts, and it's on their 'to do' list, but your guess is as good as mine as to when that will actually get done. In the meantime you can right click copy before you try the captcha or try the back button (which works for some people, but not others). I'm not sure what configuration of browsers and cookies and permissions cause the issue, but it seems to affect some people and not others. I really wish they'd implement a feature that let people stop having to solve captchas after a certain number of posts. I've seen software that does that and it works well, but that is not on their 'to do' list. :(
Martin- it's not as hard as it sounds. The URL is just the address something is saved at on the web. (For instance, the URL of this page is:
(See, it's right up in the address bar.) Basically, to share the file you have to get an address for it by posting it on a hosting site first (it's too big to host here). You can't host it straight from your computer unless you set your computer up as a server, and you don't want to do that. Every time someone looked at the picture they'd use some of your bandwidth and processor power. Fortunately, there are sites like Flikr.com and Photobucket.com that will host pictures for free. You just create an account (which only takes a couple minutes) and then upload the pictures (and they walk you through that process). Once you've done that, your picture has an address on the web. Just right click on the picture and you'll get a little pop up that says 'copy image url'. You just paste that information inside that little piece of code I showed you in the previous post, and viola! it (should) display. If it doesn't, I can help you troubleshoot it. (Usually the problem is someone copied the page url instead of the image url, that's why you right click the image directly, so you don't get that problem- that one gets a lot of people the first few times.)
For the record: I tried three times to post a soundfile from Soundclick. Failed. It´s enormously annoying. (The FAQ didn´t help at all.)
It would be great to know how to do it. (Maybe not use Soundclick?) And I mean step by step: very basic like you´re talking to a three year old or a retard or your great grandma. Really really basic.
Martin, part of the problem is that different sites give you their code in different forms, so that you need to do different things to embed it. Looking around, on Soundclick, on the song info page, down below the dotted blue line it says 'Take Charge' there are 4 options. One is, 'get single-song widget'. Click that, and that will create a page that shows you code- BEFORE YOU CUT AND PASTE THAT CODE- there is a little pull down that says 'Autoplay'. Set that so that it doesn't start playing until the user clicks on it (there is nothing worse than opening a window and having music start without your hitting play!) Once it gives you that code, right click cut and paste it into the box back here and it should work. In this one case, it really is how other sites are doing their software, not our clunky software (lots of times it's our clunky software). They aren't standardized, so it's tough for us to write a how-to for everything.
Also, for anyone else troubleshooting sound issues, if you can't get the code to get the player to work, you can always (I think) just use the link embedding code. People will have to click on the link and go to that page, but they won't have to cut and paste the url to get there.
Joe, you have stumbled on illuminati level secrets there! There is code for that, but it took forever for me to track it down! (And for the longest time there was a glitch that made the 'show the code' code disappear if you edited your comment, or anything on the site. It would even screw things up when I was editing the how-to page... but they fixed it and now it stays.) I can never remember the code, so I use another page to generate that:
Cut and paste the code you want to display into their box and hit the button (or you can type it there in the first place). Hit the button and cut and paste it back to the post. I've got it bookmarked at the very top of my useful software folder.
You are also right about the captchas timing out. I believe it's right at 15 minutes. We've gone a few rounds with support over this, but it's the way they have it set up. I think the image should update when the code updates, but that would require an active page, which I guess would use more bandwidth. I'd also love to see it so that after a certain number of posts you wouldn't need to type them anymore, but our hosts mostly run pages that aren't as forum heavy as this one, so they don't focus on forum software as much. I could tell you more, but then I'd have to use my Men In Black memory eraser on you. Depending on what browser you use and how you have it configured (although we can't figure out exactly what the magic sauce is) you can just hit the back page button when you miss a captcha and your message should still be there. :)
@nacoran: It looks like I made it. I thank you. Very much. But it´s probably not going to do me any good, for now, when I try to repeat what I just did, I can´t find the song on Soundclick ... Honestly, if the guys who designed this site were in my room right now I wouldn´t hesitate to kill them. They MUST be doing this to f**k people up. Thee´s no other reason. Isn´t it reasonable to assume that the point of Soundclick is that you upload songs and then easily find them so that you can distribute them? Now I find on "My soundclick" is some other guys song ... not my own. A picture of me is very evident, as well as personal data -- but not the music. "SOUND-click". It´s someplace else.
What kind of a world is it that these nerds have created and the rest of us find ourselves in?
This is quite simply the best blues harp microphone I've ever played. It's so strong, rich, and so fun to play. The tone from all the way down low, to all the way up top is distinctive, musical, gritty, and the thing just absolutely howls. It's all from the working, original crystal element, an Astatic model 106, the precursor to the MC151.
$350 or BO
I've got a number of harp mics and elements for sale. My day job is web designer, and I've been rebuilding mics as a second job. So I created this site www.simplemics.com to sell what I build. I'm a one-man shop, so ask me any questions you have.
If you find something you like use the coupon code "MBH" in the checkout process and 10% will be discounted off the products in your cart.
